Gustavo Jahn (Florianópolis, 1980) & Melissa Dullius (Porto Alegre, 1981), are a brazilian artist couple. They met in 1999 and formed with other young artists the collective Sendero Filmes, where they started shooting short films in super 8mm. At the same time they began to experiment with photography, drawing and collage.

During the couple’s autodidact formation some essential characteristics took shape: the use of analogue media (super 8 and 16mm film, slide photography and projectors), the affiliation to cinema history and the association with other artists as a fundamental device of the creative process.

In 2004 Gustavo Jahn & Melissa Dullius formed a new group to produce their short film ÉTERNAU. During the process of shooting the film this group founded the collective Avalanche. Art exhibitions, educational initiatives (workshops and seminaries on filmmaking and film history), music and film production were the collective’s main activities.

At this time the couple starts with musician friends a punk rock band called Autobahn. They also produce visuals for the concerts and the music video RUSSA KGB. The band left a demo album, AUTOBAHN (2005).

After completing ÉTERNAU (2006), Melissa Dullius & Gustavo Jahn got on freight ship and sailed the Atlantic towards Berlin. During the journey they began the film in progress FLUXUS ET REFLUXUS.
In Berlin they join other filmmakers/artists in a film laboratory project where they start to hand process 16mm film. These activities allow a regular stream of experiments with film material and simple narrative forms. In this process the films PUPPENHAUS, POSTCARDS and the upcoming DON’ T LOOK BACK took shape.

Since 2007 they photograph as a duo, using mainly 35mm slide film. The visual universes of each one converge in images that deal with the concepts of duality, reflection/refraction and self-identity. Throughout 2008 they present a series of performances titled TOWERS OPEN FIRE, which consists of them “firing” two slide projectors on a blank surface to form double images by contrast or addiction.
